Unit 4 Workshop 2


 

 


This post shall entail the process behind the 3 collage edits that I made in Photoshop spanning from 20/10/2022 to 21/10/2022. The first outcome is from a collaging tutorial, which showed me the use of masking and smart objects, I also had to redo the shadow technique, but I feel I had a lot more tools at my disposal this time in order to make it a success such as gaussian blur filter instead of just the blur brush. The addition of the bats in the background was also interesting as I never really used the 'Black and White' tool, nor considered using it to have an easier time cutting out images. 


 




These 2 pieces are based on Hanna Hoch's photo collages which were made in response to the current political situation of the UK. By making a collage with faces that need to overlap in a certain way, flattening erasing and cropping too much could have made the process irreversible so I needed to continuously save and back-up the process and assets too.

The more difficult of the two is certainly the first as I needed to distort continuously to have the facial features to align.

 



 

This piece was inspired by the number of bald chancellors the UK has had in the past decade and how they are all similar and interchangeable, like a Mr. Potato Head figure.
I'm glad of the result from the spot-healing brush in regard to merging together the different body parts.

I read this article today which covered some conventions of Text Based adventure games and one aspect which stuck out to me was the 'Story' vs. 'Scenario' idea where when making a text based adventure game, rather than making some grand epic about a fully developed world it can be a small scenario with lower stakes and less exposition to better immerse a player.   https://medium.com/@model_train/text-adventure-game-design-in-2020-608528ac8bda I also developed my idea for a story more so without the specifics as of yet. It will be about a Grave Robber who gets captured by Skeletons and has to escape the winding and perilous crypt. I think the difficulty will be mapping out the space and getting to grips with coding the scenarios with variables and such. Independent Project #9

          These Screenshots contain all my progress for this week, I created an ammo box (The Blue Cube) which is based on the model/ code I used for the Health Item just retextured and set to change the value of ReserveAmmo Variable rather than PlayerHealth, I also created an enemy spawner (Dinosaur head icon) - it is essentially an invisible object that just places down enemies on a delay - fairly simple but is all I think I can really do with the short amount of development time remaining, especially as I'm not adding individual wave numbers, then there is the player barrier which you can purchase using points from killing Gibbies, so far I have only added the ability for a widget to appear asking if you wanmt to purchase and place the barrier but it is not yet functional - I will need to have it so it first checks if you have enough points and then subtracts however much the barrier costs as they will have differing sizes and costs, I will hopefuly work out the blueprint for th

First time on illustrator

  Today I tried using adobe illustrator for the first time, I thought that I would have had an edge because of my prior knowledge with Photoshop however it is entirely different aside from aspects such as filters. I struggled using the pen at first as I had managed to completely avoid using it for my whole time using Photoshop after that it was simple but I still feel as if I have a lot to learn but as for basics I feel I am at grips with them. It was also difficult having to use the pen to cut out an object for example instead of using a background eraser or soemthing similar.
